Vendor sent quickly, almost new quality at used price. Beautiful book with many large colored illustrations. Very interesting and informative book for any country music fans/musicians. I found it very entertaining as a musician (first copy was a present to me from one of my music students, I bought this as a present to my brother, another professional musician). Only so much info can be covered in a book this size and unless it is revised soon, much current country info is not here, but descriptions of the birth and growth of country and related music is with many surprises. The Everly brothers for instance originally grew in Nashville, Bob Dylan spent time there. Grand Old Opry and King Biscuit Flour Hour fans will also find interesting facts here. California became a huge growth center around Okeh Records as Texas country musicians had to migrate during the dust bowl to more fertile ground. And if you want to make friends in Texas, mention Bob Wills!

This book is a real treat. Each page comes alive with great photos, artist background and recorded information. Of all the books I have seen, own, or read about country music, this one is very comprehensive. I worked at a top country station in the 70's and early 80's and don't remember any books around that were nearly as well done as this one. You will enjoy it!

This book provided just what I was looking for -- a thorough, well presented background on country music from the early days to the present. It is amply illustrated and serves as a history book/encyclopedia as well as a handsome coffee table book. I think any fan of this musical genre would be glad to own a copy.

My mother has always loved country music and this was a big hit when she received it for Christmas. Great "coffee table" book also.

This book is simply outstanding. It is easy to read, it is very, well illustrated. It is very comprehensive, very authoritative, and was written & illustrated by many authors & contributors. "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" is displayed in big letters in the Rotunda of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, TN. The Rotunda is where all the plaques of the inductees are on display. I've been there and I've seen this. The inductee plaques begin with the early inductees, like the Carter Family & Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, and when I was there in 2006, the most recent inductee plaque was one for Alabama. Also, in this Rotunda, there is a large painting entitled "The Origins of Country Music". A picture of this large painting is in this Book "Will the Circle Be Unbroken".This book covers the complete history of Country Music, beginning with some of the early artists like the Carter Family & Jimmie Rodgers and others, and continues through all the major Country Music Stars up throughGrechen Wilson and some the more recent stars.This book even covers Southern Rock & such bands as the Allman Brothers, the Charlie Daniels Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd & others. It also covers the legendary Gram Parsons and Alternative Country or "Americana".If I had to choose one book on American Country Music, I'd choose this one. I ordered this book for my granddaughter, and it was just delivered. It looks adorable and I am sure she will love it. The problem is in the shipping. It is a soft cover book and although the book was obviously shipped flat; it was shipped in a soft pack without cardboard or anything so the entire package was folded in half. There is a crease in the book. Before giving it to my granddaughter, I am going to try to flatten it out by sticking a ton of other things on top to weigh it down. I am just surprised it was shipped so carelessly.

When Talia visits her grandmother, she is asked to help make Hamantaschen, special cookies for Purim. This doesn’t sound very tasty to Talia and she calls the cookies Haman-tushies. While preparing the cookies, Talia learns the story of Purim. Of course, Talia had lots of questions and she learned so much from her grandmother. Do you think Talia will at least try a Hamantaschen?The Jewish holiday Purim is celebrated on March 12th. It is a celebration of Queen Esther who saved the Jewish people from Haman’s plot to destroy them. Readers will be enlightened by this story and learn about Jewish culture. Expressive illustrations invite readers to share in the history of the holiday. Simple sentence structure help beginners gain confidence in their reading skills. The back pages share a special recipe for readers to try at home.

The trees on the farm were just starting to blossom and it was time for Talia to visit Grandma. The snow was gone, the grass was green and “Purim was coming.” Grandma got out her cookbook and turned to the recipe for Hamantaschen, “special cookies for Purim.” Talia put her hand on her chin and looked over at Grandma with amazement. “Haman-tushies?” she thought. “YUCK! What kind of cookie was that?” Certainly not anything fit for little girls to eat. No way!Grandma began to mix up the ingredients for those Haman-tushies and began to tell Talia “the story of Purim.” It all began in “the city of Shusan in faraway Persia” when King Ahashuerus was thinking of getting married. Of course being a king, he had his choice from “all the young women from his kingdom.” The woman he selected was “Esther, a Jewish girl who was brave, smart, and beautiful,” whom he quickly fell in love with and married.Talia was surprised that the Queen of Persia was Jewish and after gathering fillings for those Haman-tushies, Grandma continued. To make a long story short, there was some “plotting against the king” and Queen Esther relayed the information to King Ahashuerus. The cookie making continued as did the story. There was Mordechai and the king’s prime minister, “a proud, wicked man named Haman.” There was going to be trouble in the kingdom and Queen Esther could perish at the hands of Haman. Would he hurt the Jewish people and more importantly, would Talia have to eat those yucky Haman-tushies?This is a fun, humorous tale about the story of Purim and Hamantaschen that will make little ones laugh. Of course Talia misunderstood what Grandma said and certainly wasn’t going to eat anything in the tushie line. This alone will make the young audience laugh because they’ll certainly know that there’s no such thing as Haman-tushies. This is certainly a very unique way to introduce the story of Purim to very young children. As Grandma works, the tale alternates between her relaying the Purim story to Talia as they make the Haman-tushies. I definitely loved this delightful tale! The content of this book is comprehensive, but some examples in the 13th edition (latest edition) are incorrect. For example on page 158, problem 10 has two valid answers, A and E.Hopefully next editions will correct some of these mistakes.

The book is very good. It was the main reason that I got an 800. But the problem with the book is that the explanations to the answer choices can be very vague or not make sense at times. It goes into more than any other test prep book but in terms of its presentation the barons math level 1 is better.

Problems arise when we don't answer the question with the right balance, or at least the right balance as assumed by the person asking the evangelism-justice question. But what if the problem isn't with how we answer but in the question itself? Adam clearly articulates the purpose and practice of justice in the local church context. In this book we can see God’s plan for God’s people to bear witness to the whole gospel of Jesus Christ that moves beyond an outreach strategy. God’s plan for Shalom is a the way of life for local churches in communities and neighborhoods. As our American Church culture continues to struggle with new strategies to reach the lost in a post modern world, Adam shows us God’s original plan for God’s people that has always been at the center of God’s heart. Shalom! Abundant flourishing for all of creation together! This is good news!

Adam Gustine writes this in Becoming a Just Church: "...would someone who only lived in your sanctuary know thatthere is a real world outside of it and that that world is wracked with injustice?" In my personal experience of church for much of my life, the answer to this question would be no. And I think many people with an evangelical church background would say the same. We wonder then why people who live life in the margins feel out of place in our churches.He goes on to say "If we were to consider the normative experience in many evangelical churches, it would appear that the real world outside the walls of the church was not considered. Ignoring the world outside, particularly the moments of extreme brokenness and injustice, is a subtle way of being a high-ground church. Because high-ground society is largely insulated from the injustice of the world, there is a certain degree of freedom not to talk about issues that arise in our world. For people who experience life as vulnerable or marginalized people, walking into a gathering for corporate worship and not talking about the issues they experience day to day often seems offensive."So good. So needed. Highly reccomended!

Directed primarily at North American white evangelicals, Becoming a Just Church explores the question, What would it look like for the church to embody God’s justice in the world? For many evangelicals the topic itself will be anathema, but for a growing subset of evangelicals, God’s call to pursue justice is of paramount concern, and as Gustine insists, a central theme of Scripture. As such, he makes the case that justice cannot be confined to one program area of the church, but must become a way of life for God's people. Walking us through the biblical storyline, Gustine draws out a theology of justice rooted in the ultimate picture of God’s kingdom of Shalom. This section alone is worth the price the book.One of the other great gifts of Becoming a Just Church is the vocabulary and imagery Gustine invokes to offer readers a framework for imagining and living into God’s justice. He also does us the favor throughout of providing honest and critical reflection on his own pastoral experiences, which I suspect will resonate deeply for pastors who find themselves on a similar journey. The discussion questions after each chapter are thoughtful, provocative and useful for guiding discussion in small group settings. Our church will definitely benefit from having this as a resource and guide!

This is an excellent book! I really appreciate that this is not merely a treatise for justice in the church, or strictly theological (though there is plenty of strong theological work here), but the author begins at becoming the kind of people who embody the justice of God. He also provides several great thoughts and questions for further consideration and practical steps toward application in our own context at the end of each chapter. An incredibly helpful tool for further processing and discerning next steps, both personally and as leadership teams.Such a welcome contribution to a very pertinent issue. As Gustine writes, “Injustice is tangible evidence of the kingdom of darkness at work in the world.“ But in this book Gustine vividly paints the picture of how God works through us as the church to bear the light of his kingdom into that darkness as a parable, a demonstration of the shalom of God. As we become just as a people, the light of God breaks into the brokenness of this world, and that is when truly transformative things happen.

This man tells all, outlining the importance of making good choices at all ages and places in life. When he finally understood humbling himself before God, healing for past sins began. The end of this book is the better part. He and his wife both expound on the importance of seeking help and wise counseling , to prevent harming others. I felt great compassion for Mark, but also for his wife and children who had no idea about his past until he chose to finally reveal it. It is difficult to bear one's soul to the world, in particular about this highly sensitive political issue. Mark makes a good point in his message to Pastors, we cannot change the environment of "pro-choice" without being willing to bring abortion of babies (who are living children at the time of conception) into the open. Honest and open dialog is the only way to incite change. You and your ministry are in my prayers, as is all of your family.

I was unable to attend the workshop so I decided to read the book. I am so glad that I own this one! I am still reading and I love Amara's writing style. The format is easy to follow and takes you on a journey.My passions in the world are in bringing in the new paradigm where there is a balance and equality in our masculine and feminine relationships as well as the relationship between human and nature. This book also covers how we can learn to pleasure ourselves and our intimate partners. It even addresses how we can honor and respect each other so we are uplifting each other and honoring ourselves at the same time.It feels very appropriate at these times when so many confusion exists in relationship.

Enjoyed the ease of the author's ability to communicate. She gives you insight on what is really happening in your sexual realm. We are never taught about sex (ever, only superficially) and this book includes very detailed decryption of how sex is and should continue to be an integral part of our lives; recharging our soul and improving our being. It opens your mind and reconnects you to your core.

Excellent book! Little old fashioned about male/female roles, but look beyond that part.

I just started to read the book, and I am already thankful. I too was pretty much left in limbo regarding sexual relations when I was growing up. I got the church's doctrine on the matter: don't do it...you'll get someone pregnant...it's a sin to even think about it...oh, and it is also a sin to explore your own body through masturbation. There was no practical guidance from church, parents, or teachers as I stumbled through my sexual experiences and wondered why my experiences didn't measure up to those displayed in the popular media (advertising, movies, magazines, etc.). Emotional and physical sexual development for me was done in the dark and always with a mental battle as to whether I should even be exploring this aspect of my personality. Some sort of mentoring process would have been very beneficial. Actually, In fact, I am sure it would still be beneficial since being mid-aged now I feel as though I have just barely scratched the surface of my sexual potential. I guess that is why I searched and found Quodoushka.The first chapter of the book has made me keenly aware of the source of my fairly recent feelings of being an insufficient parent for my young teenage children. This wasn't a problem when they were younger, but I have difficulty now as they are starting to think about the opposite sex and sex in general. I would really like to give my kids some guidance other than the rhetoric and limbo I was given at that age, but I haven't known how to even begin. Too much information before they are ready for it could be just as damaging as too little. Thankfully, I am also realizing from the text that I have already started my children on a solid path through my introducing them to nature and showing them the value of being observant in life and a good steward at home, school, and in the world. I am looking forward to learning much more about my sexual and parental potentials as I continue to read this wonderful book of knowledge.

Some very useful diagrams and charts, but, this writing has many inconsistencies,

great read. a must for any library, this would make a great wedding gift for young couple starting out. I highly recommend it.
